We're going to be making some changes to our Website, Products, and Logo. We're still looking for the Project Boat of our Dreams to renovate and restore with Eco-Friendly Products. On the other side of things we have acquired a new, but used 5th wheel to live in Full-Time. It will require our attention in the near future for some changes we have planned.

We have eliminated a few Product offerings from our Website and have tried to stream line it to make it a bit easier to use and understand. We will be adding several new Product lines in the next couple of months. Please let us know of any Products that are Eco-Friendly and/or Green that you can recommend to us...

We did not know what to expect upon arriving in the Mobile Bay area, had the News Networks exaggerated as usual, was it still busy with tourists coming down after school has gotten out for the summer, would we be able to visit our favorite little Hole-in-the-Wall-Seafood Restaurant and get a fresh Shrimp or Oyster Po' Boy sandwich, we just didn't know. Early the next morning we headed out to see what was going on...

Arriving in Fairhope at Fly Creek things seemed to be pretty normal. There was one apparent thing not going on, there was no one going out or launching out of the Dry Storage... We asked around a bit and it had been that way for days. There was no oil in the water, no sheen, and no smell in the air. Once in awhile people or Fisherman would venture out, but nothing like it had been in recent days before.

Next was Orange beach and Gulf Shores, here we got a real dose of what was going on... Every Public Parking Lot was being used as some type of staging area for the Beach Clean-Up, Bulldozers, 4 Wheeler Carts, Workers with their reflective safety gear, Trash Trucks hauling full and leaving empty bins, and hardly any Tourists. The mood of everyone we walked past was overwhelmingly somber, but still friendly, as if we were at the wake of a close friend who we all have admired...

We then left there to go to Perdido Pass to see if the oil was really coming in the Inlet as had been reported, it was. Not a lot of oil, but enough to let you know it was there on and in the water. We could see it, smell it, and watch it being flushed out of Perdido Pass on the outgoing tide, yes, I said out!!! The Pass had Booms everywhere in every direction, boats patroling the area, but none trying to absorb the oil on the surface, it was apparent, we could see it from the shore. As we walked out to the beach on the Gulf we saw boats 50 feet off the shore to the horizon all working in teams with absorbent tubes trying to slowly get what oil they could. I counted 30 teams of 2 boats just within eyesight.

We came away from our adventure with a sad feeling, but it has really motivated us to try and do what we can do... The good news is that we have become a Representative for a Company out of Canada that has an extremely unique, simple, lightweight, and reusable Oil Sorbent Barrier that works!!! The Company is Murrenhil Corporation, the Product is their Rapid Oil Containment (ROC) Sorbent Barrier System. We had the pleasure of meeting the Owner, Glenn Murray, while we were in the area. He has been working tirelessly to get his ROC Product in use with BP in the Gulf. BP has used the ROC Product in Alaska, but the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing, as we all have witnessed. There have been several good Press Reports, numerous meetings, and much interest. What initially started out for Glenn as a one week trip to the Gulf area, has turned into 3 plus weeks! We commend Glenn for all he is trying to do to help and bring a Product to the Gulf area that works!

For more information on the ROC Sorbent Barrier System go to our Oil Spill Page at www.greenboatingusa.com . We are excited to offer a Product such as the ROC Sorbent Barrier, the uses are many: From an accidental spill at the Fuel Dock, protecting your Boat at the Marina, Shore Front Property Protection, complete Marina protection, to assisting in the Clean-Up in the Gulf. Please contact us with any questions or if you know of someone who may benefit from using the ROC Sorbent Barrier System. Let us know if you would like a sample to test for yourself...

In the coming days we will have other Eco-Friendly Products to add on our site. I'm sure we will be spending more and more of our time and efforts in the Gulf Region. We will always try as best we can to keep you up to date on Twitter with what is going on both with us and the Gulf...

Oh, almost forgot, I did get that Fresh Shrimp Po' Boy as we were leaving the Mobile Bay area, I hope it won't be the last one for awhile...
What we have observed is an abundance of Private Boat Docks sitting out on the water that would be ideal for Solar and/or Wind Systems. Some estimates we received have the number of Private Boat Docks well over 10,000 in the region!

For those who keep their Boat at a Marina it may be more difficult to acquire permission from the Marina Management to have Solar and/or Wind Power to augment your Boats' systems. For those with Private Boat Docks it ought to be an easy decision to make.

So, Why aren't more people doing it?

We don't have the answer to that, just the knowledge that more people can easily do it, many can do it as a DIY Project or hire a Contractor to do it... We realise that many of the Camps or Homes along the Rivers and Lakes in the Southeast United States have trees that provide protection and shade. Due to various Waterfront Protective Zoning Laws, those trees must stay. Quite a number of these homes have their own boat docks, generally with roofs, that protrude out away from the trees on the bank and have ample hours of sunlight to provide Solar Power to the dock and in some cases for the Camp or Home. Now for Wind Power, the obvious placement is out on the River or Lake affixed to the Boat Dock. We all know that there are the many hot and sultry days of summer on the water, no wind... There are just as many days and nights when the breeze blows strong out on the water and not a breath is felt on the shore. I remember going out for those moonlit night rides on the Tennessee River, sitting on the hook, and feeling a 12 to 15 knot breeze cooling us off!

With all the incentives the Government has to offer these days it is our hope people will look into and take action to supplement their power needs for the Boat, Camp, and the Home...

Solar Panels are becoming more efficient and the costs are reasonable, even more so with rebates if your project qualifies...

Wind Generators are generating Electricity at lower wind speeds and doing it very quietly, again, some rebates may apply to your project...

This is where I plug what we have available to you from our Website, please visit http://www.greenboatingusa.com to see our newest products for Solar, Wind, and other Eco-Friendly Products.
